The cosmetically-appealing open-fit and receiver-in-canal hearing instruments have created a significant shift in sales trends and patient acceptability. These miniature products now approach 60% of the U.S. hearing aid market and have successfully opened the world of amplification to many new patients.
As good as these products are, the “standard” ear tips that the manufacturers supply often fail to maximize the instruments’ performance, and also leave them vulnerable to physical loss.
Microsonic manufactures a complete line of custom earmolds specifically designed to enhance open-fit and RIC performance while retaining them in the ear more securely.
In this section you will find several options of molds that are available to you. Any standard mold can be made into an open fitting earmold.
- OF is placed in front of a standard style which tells the technician that this is an open fitting earmold with a LARGE IROS vent.
- SL is placed in front of a standard style which tells the technician that this is an open fitting earmold but the canal is the same as a standard earmold.
- FINALLY RIC is placed in front of the OF or SL to let the technician know that it is a receiver in the ear.
