Occasionally the need arises for earmolds having special properties, both physical and acoustic, that are not available in the everyday repertoire.
CFA Systems feature a Continuous Flow Adapter which snaps into a standard fitting inserted in the earmold. This constant diameter elbow, when used in conjunction with several drilling designs, produces a variety of enhanced HF responses. In addition, there is a special drilling for reverse curves.

On occasion, it is not practical or possible to make a permanent earmold for a patient. For these cases, there are available disposable foam earplugs with a piece of conventional standard tubing attached. The plug is compressed with the fingers before insertion into the ear, and expands against the canal wall. Due to their low density and loose seal, there are limits to the hearing aid gain which can be accommodated with these devices.
